In honor of the 43rd President of the United States (heh, heh, heh),
The Al Gore Cup is a forum for teams that finished second and most
likely feel that they're more deserving than all of the other
first-place teams to be in the championship bracket.
Teams are seeded 1-4 based on regular season records and play a
best-of-seven semifinal round followed by another seven game series to
crown the winner.
The winner receives a bonus of 1 million Benchwarmer Bucks.
The runner-up gets 500,000.
The 2008 Entrants (in order of seeding):
Vancouver, BC, Canada, 2010 (86-64) - 2nd place finish in
Speaker, but would have won 2 other divisions.
Detroit (82-68) - Spirited fight with Belton for the 2nd spot.
Vegas Strip (77-73) - Finished 2nd in a tight 3-way race.
Plaza (75-75) - Ahead by 2 games after Week 24, lost title by 1
game.
Semifinals - Plaza vs. Vancouver, BC, Canada, 2010; Vegas Strip vs.
Detroit
Finals - Plaza vs. Detroit - Detroit won the season series 7-5
