2009 Benchwarmer Championships
Two repeat division champions this year and two teams that never
before won a division square off for the 5th league title. One
thing for sure, though, we'll have a brand new champion in 2009.
Ryan Conference: India (90-60) vs. Altoona (96-54)
In 2008, India made their first push into 2nd place and they went
even further in their fifth season with a division title. They
won their division handily, while Altoona needed all of their
league-best 96 wins to pull away from New Jersey at the very end.
This is the second straight appearance here for them, and they look to
advance this time.
Season series: Tied 6-6
League Power Index Rankings: Altoona: 1 India: 4

Carlton Conference: Hawaii (81-69) vs. Aksarben (95-55)
Aksarben was division and conference champion last season and
repeated the first half of that this season. Last year they
dropped the final series to South Philly, but want to make it all the
way in 2009. After 2 finishes in 2nd place for the first 4 years
of the league, Hawaii has made the push for their first division
title. They won 14 fewer games than Aksarben this season, but
their head-to-head results were nearly even.
Season series: Aksarben won 7 games to 5
League Power Index Rankings: Aksarben: 2 Hawaii: 5
BWB CHAMPIONSHIP : India vs. Aksarben
Not an unthinkable upset, but India got past the league's top team
to win their first conference crown. Meanwhile, Aksarben makes
their second straight appearance in the league championship series.
Season series: Tied 3-3
