Second-Place Showdown
In honor of the 43rd President of the United States (heh, heh, heh),
The Al Gore Cup is a forum for teams that finished second and most
likely feel that they're more deserving than all of the other
first-place teams to be in the championship bracket.
Teams are seeded 1-4 based on regular season records and play a
best-of-seven semifinal round followed by another seven game series to
crown the winner.
The winner receives a bonus of 1 million Benchwarmer Bucks.
The runner-up gets 500,000.
The 2007 Entrants (in order of seeding):
- San Antonio (81-69) - Hanging tight all season, a great Week 25
brought them within 1 game of the division lead by Game 149.
They finished in 4th last season.
- St. Paul (77-73) - Two seasons, two 2nd place finishes to
Moscow.
- Jersey Boardwalk (75-75) - A 16-game improvement over 2006 and a
jump from 4th to 2nd.
- Canberra (72-78) - Last year's Gore Cup Champion, when the team
was under different ownership and known as WV.
