2008 Benchwarmer Championships
Boomer has been the dominant team in the league so far - taking the
first 2 championships and coming into the playoffs this season with
101 wins. Three teams with their first division titles will try
to stop the streak.
Red Barber Conference: College Park (78-72) vs. Boomer (101-49)
Unlike Boomer, which had no problem in repeating as division champ,
College Park had to fight off Liberty, MO and Kansas City (the winner
of the Bob Prince Division for the first two years) for their first
division championship. While Boomer dominated the season series
and comes in with 23 more wins during the season, there is a history
(at least in all of BWB) of the top team not making the finals.
Stay tuned.

Johnson Conference: Newport News (88-62) vs. Blair (96-54)
Two new division champions. Newport News won the Haray Carey
Division with a brand new owner who improved on the franchise's
2nd-place finishes from the previous seasons. They meet up with
Blair, another team with a new owner who was able to improve (3rd
place last season). Blair has the top power index ranking in the
league and easily won the season series.

BWB CHAMPIONSHIP : Blair vs. Boomer
Boomer won the first two league titles - both times against Moscow.
Moscow was out of the picture entirely this season for the playoffs.
Although Boomer comes into this series as the league's top team -
record-wise - Blair had 96 wins themselves and has the best power
index for the league. The teams split 6 games during the regular
season, so this appears to be an evenly matched final. Can
Boomer win championship #3? The loser of this series has a
chance to make the Benchwarmer Bash, but will likely be on the bubble
to do so. Only a win will guarantee a berth.
Season series: Tied 3-3
