Benchwarmer Championships
We get a new league champ this year - and new blood into the
playoffs. One constant from last season - a team enters this
round after a regular season tie.
Survivor Conference: Beijing 2008 (83-67) vs. Gashouse (98-52)
Gashouse came close in 2006. In fact, they had to go to a
final one-game playoff and came up short against Jersey Sea Shore.
Winning the Gore Cup likely brought no comfort - so this season
Gashouse used a 15-game winning streak late in the season to help them
finally pull away from Kelly Bundy on their way to the league's best
record. Beijing 2008 was known as Turino last season, but either
way they repeat as division champs. Winning their final 12 games
on the way to a 39-15 division record kept them barely ahead of
Florida for the win. The results of their 2007 games vs.
Gashouse, however, may give them some trepidation.

Real World Conference: Brisbane (87-63) vs. South Pole (90-61)
South Pole tied with 2 other teams for the 2nd-highest victory
total after 150 games - 89 wins. Unfortunately, division rival
Gladstone was one of those other 2 teams - on the strength of a 2-of-3
series win in the season finale. So the teams cranked it up for
Game 151, and South Pole was able to beat out last season's Bachelor
Division and Real World Conference winner. Brisbane didn't have
that much drama - using a 40-14 division record to power their way to
a division title.
Season series: Brisbane won 8 games to 4.

BWB CHAMPIONSHIP : South Pole vs. Gashouse
South Pole and Gashouse are searching for their first league title.
Though Gashouse comes in with the better record, South Pole won the
season series.
