Second-Place Showdown

In honor of the 43rd President of the United States (heh, heh, heh), The Al Gore Cup is a forum for teams that finished second and most likely feel that they're more deserving than all of the other first-place teams to be in the championship bracket.

Teams are seeded 1-4 based on regular season records and play a best-of-seven semifinal round followed by another seven game series to crown the winner.

The winner receives a bonus of 1 million Benchwarmer Bucks.  The runner-up gets 500,000.

The 2007 Entrants (in order of seeding):

  • New Jersey (80-70) - Bottom Feeder champ in 2006, they move up a notch in 2007.
  • Trinidad (80-70) - Last season's Robinson Division winner couldn't keep up with Buffalo this year.
  • Sydney (79-71) - 4th-place finisher in the previous 2 seasons - they relinquished the division lead to Gettysburg in Week 24.
  • SO CAL (74-76) - Late season push moved them into 2nd place after 3rd in 2006, 4th in 2005.
